Bubble Trouble

I had one of those moments underwater the other day that can turn a bad relaxing dive into a rather good one. With conditions not ideal at Hanifaru and the whalesharks and mantas not performing, I decided to go critter-hunting on the sandy bottom of the bay. We had already discovered 4 pipehorse and a bizarre furry crab with eggs on a previous dive so I was hopefully going to find something else special. Towards the end of the dive, with nothing to show for my efforts, I was scavenging in a patch of seagrass when I startled a small fish. In its attempt to flee my presence it became lodged in a sandy mucus-like bubble. With a photo of the startled fish in the bag, I popped the bubble and set him free…
